Karyn was shocked when she received an anonymous e-mail link to a video showing her former roommate and best friend, Joyce, being brutalized and demanding a ransom. While she and Joyce had a falling out when Joyce walked in on Karyn with Joyce's boyfriend, Karyn felt obligated to help her friend.
Karyn scrambled to pull together the ransom and followed a circuitous set of instructions by Joyce's captors that took her to a seedy porn theater where she saw an unwilling Joyce in one of the projected films. Karyn was then blindfolded and taken to building where Joyce was being held. What followed was not Joyce's release but a betrayal and revenge for coming between Joyce and her boyfriend.
