"Pin-Up" art pieces posted on the website are one of a kind single pics, usually ones I've done as magazine covers or centerfolds. They don't relate to any existing comics series most of the time..

I think I'll have to continue "Armageddon" before "War Slaves"...I know, both were left with open ended cliffhangers with big shit about to tear loose...I will get around to them eventually.

Greetings Mr Roberts. First time around DoF forum, so I'm glad to salute you as the legend you are. I can't even remember when was the first time I saw your work in the early years of the internet, around the year 2000, I think.
In those years you could find pieces of your comics scattered around, and one would desperately save those tini preview pics that survived the censoring in the ol' trusty "disquette". Because one thought that maybe one never would going to see that "sorta comic" again... LOL. Now you just need to type "comixxx" and get drenched in the tsunami of brutally nasty stuff that you spawned more than a decade ago. Great memories!

Today, it seems that everyone has hop up on the trend you started. You can see the "masqued thug having his way with the cute hot girl next door" even in 3D. But your style still mantains that particular raw attraction, no distractions, no missleading bullshit, just good old porn the way "we" like it. Lotta skin, lotta curves and lotta f@ck, she like it or not, that's what's all about.

Pardon my english, not my native language. Nice to greeting you Roberts.

"Legends" usually gets plagiarized, and "imitated" quite often. You already talked about that russian guy who made lots of well known flash web games...
Well, I wonder if you know about this japanese comic studio: http://www.dlsite.com/ecchi-eng/circle/ ... 06081.html

Those guys really took plagiarism to a whole new level! ha!

Seriously, before you started the "black van" stuff, there was not comics wich embraced this "theme" the way you did, like I said, no missleading bullshit.
That sort of 'theme' could only be READ in text files on "hot tales" websites in their "BDSM" section. There was the italian "fumetti" and "BDSM comics"(bdsm has its rules, no one is forced to do anything), but there was no "gang bang no rules r@pe gonzo" nowhere to be found in the comic scene.
Everything was concealed inside some "scenario", historical, psichological, in some drama, there was a lot of bullshit to work around to finally get to the part when the "damsel gets in deep trouble".
So, suddenly there it was, the cutest hotest girl ever, a black van with black windows, a masqued bastard son of a bitch, and no one and nothing to stop what we WANTED TO SEE. Awesome, that was awesome, to finally see it done the way we wanted. Of course, it was a matter of seconds to see that new stuff copied, reproduced and propagated in all the possible ways, but that first contact with the "nasty prohibited shit" will remain in the minds of the ones that lurked the internet in that era.

I thank you for your support and compliments..but in truth, the Japanese were WAY out ahead on this genre'..and I do mean pure kidnap r@ape comics and movies. In fact, there's been a recent flood of posters on YouTube who have been posting Japanese r@ape theme movies from the 1970's..and it's amazing stuff. Not the cheap crap Americans do, oh no..these are REAL high production movies, with real scripts and sets and actors and film cameras...
Their comics also were FAR ahead on these subjects, and their Anime' too, very much so..the trouble is, CENSORSHIP. the west works VERY hard to keep the Japanese culture very isolated on their islands..that stuff is hardly EVER seen in the US, and is very rare even in "liberal" Europe..In Japan, real movie directors with real high budget movie budgets do r@ape movies with LOTS of long very explicit scenes..Real Comic Book/Manga houses do r@ape comics..and real Anime'/animation studios do r@ape theme "cartoons".
We are simply not allowed to see any of it. Thank General Douglas McArthur for that.

Mr Roberts, I tip my hat to you sir. Now I see that you know perfectly well what you're talking about. I totally agree with you. Japanese comic artists achieved something that westerners still can't even dream on. They know EXACTLY how to eroticize their readers/clients. Japanese porn comic artists are PROS in their field, like some damn surgeon in medicine, or an engineer in the industrial sector.
Westerners porn comic artists are still trying to eroticize their public with the "adventure" formula that we only know, the same adventure format from Dick Tracy, Batman, or Snoopy. It's just ridiculous. I've been studying this japanese phenomenon for quite a while, and I've found out that for instance your work and the japanese style share some items...:
The female FIGURE has predominance over any distraction like backgrounds, or any superfluous bullshit unrelated to SEX. Lots of close-ups, a preponderance of the iconography(cartoon style) over the naturalism (realism), more close-ups, bending the rules of what it's "possible" in anything related to sex, and more close-ups... There's a lot more to talk about. But well, I think I made my point.

There's still cons on the japanese side, in example, a hentai-manga page can be so damn confusing that you just can't even tell what's go in on, and can be just a simple pussy rubbing scene. They tend to work too damn much with the monochromatic and grey scales. Western artists have something to say about these issues, I think that westerners can add some sense of structure to much of the chaos in the average japanese style. Like some sort of graphic "translation". Color, contrast and structure, that will be enough to present the japanese style to the old fashioned western comixxx client. Something in between can be a massive hit in the western market.

Well, to share something about what I think of "manga meets comic", I just did a pic about "nylstmask"'s obsession with the "stocking mask" fetish... that whole exchange was damn funny, so I said what the hell, ha ha ha!
Here's my pic, it shall be dedicated to you Mr.Roberts, hope you like it:

So, in the pic you can clearly see the "Roberts" touch in that guy, it's just a damn classic! And about the girl, the cartoon style makes possible to "bend" the subject (girl figure) in any way needed to create a "sensation". Like a clay sexual monster capable of doing anything, that's the secret of the japanese hentai-manga. You can't do that with stick barby figures, or 3D plastic lifeless models. Maybe the artist needs to "bend" something in the fugure in some inpossible way in all the vignettes of one page. So it's dumb to rely in a 3D model for exampe when you aim to cause a turmoil in someone's head. You need to bend the rules of nature, that's the whole point of using a drawing artistic medium.

About 3D, actually, there's some japanese artists that are bending the rules of the 3D platform, and doing a great job, those japaneses had to do it first as always: http://www.dlsite.com/ecchi-eng/circle/ ... 12726.html
Still, even mastering 3D art style, the overwhelmig production factors involved can't be avoided. The amount of issues to have into account: the construction of every element in your whole virtual world to the last detail, the multiple lights, multiple positions, infinite hours of work in every single frame, it's just insane. An after the "pre-production", comes the "post-production": the time needed to do the rendering, plus the expensive hardware... you can spend a whole day to render one vignette from one page. There can be no errors, no black outs, and maybe after all that, the rendering didn't came out as you expected. Forget it, that shit is crazy. But above all of those issues, the production process goes in the oposite direction for a sustainable business. 3D is the future, but in a different way. It will be in the "augmented reality" field where the 3D porn will evolve, that will be a revolution. But in the iconographic field, nothing surpasses or will surpass a fast pencil doing the right thing.

When the processes used in Jim Cameron's "Avatar" finally filter down into commercial grade softwares and cameras, and become available to common Mac/PC platforms, you'll see a revolution in 3D porn. That's a long way off and may not happen at all, because what's really the motivation? what do you gain? May as well get a camera and real girls, it's way cheaper.. and much more fun.
Everyone I know who has tried 3D modelling in a commercial porn website has had a massive failure..it gets very little business. People do not connect sexually with "plastic".
3D does not look organic. The "life" is not in it.
I agree, the human hand guiding the pencil and pen will be very hard to surpass..A fact I am very happy about, it means I'm not going to be out-done any time soon by some cheap Chinese computer generated comics..
